Kelly Vlahakis-Hanks, President and CEO of Earth Friendly Products (ECOS), will be among the honorees at the National Women’s History Museum (NWHM) in a ceremony to mark International Women’s Day on March 8, 2020.

The annual “Women Making History Awards” honor a select group of people who have made significant contributions in their field and serve as an inspiration to women everywhere.

Apart from the Greek-American entrepreneur, the NWHM will honor the actresses and advocates Andie MacDowell and Logan Browning along with Dr. Nancy D. O’Reilly, the founder of Women Connect4Good, Inc.

The awards are sponsored by American Airlines, ECOS®, Morgan Stanley, Mount Saint Mary’s University in Los Angeles, and the L’Oréal cosmetics company.

“The incredible women we’re honoring at this year’s Women Making History Awards are true trailblazers,” said National Women’s History Museum President and CEO, Holly Hotchner.

“They each have played a pivotal role in working to amplify women’s voices through activism, storytelling, business and philanthropy, and we couldn’t be more excited to recognize and celebrate their important achievements and contributions,” she added.

Previous honorees include #MeToo Founder Tarana Burke; actresses Kristen Bell, Kerry Washington, Tracee Ellis Ross, Viola Davis, and Rita Moreno; SpaceX President and COO Gwynne Shotwell; photographer Annie Leibovitz; the late author and poet Dr. Maya Angelou; former First Lady Laura Bush; and Instagram COO Marne Levine.

As President and CEO of ECOS®, Kelly Vlahakis-Hanks leads the strategy and production of environmentally-friendly cleaning products, including the ECOS®, Baby ECOS®, ECOS® Pets, and ECOS® Pro product lines.

She has been internationally recognized for her highly effective leadership and influential voice in the green movement and in the area of corporate social responsibility.

Vlahakis-Hanks oversees four sustainable manufacturing facilities across the U.S. as well as a global sales team. She has implemented sustainable practices which have made ECOS® a model for green American business.

Under her leadership, ECOS® became the first company to achieve the “trifecta” of sustainable manufacturing: carbon neutrality, water neutrality, and TRUE Zero Waste Platinum certification.

As a primary manufacturer, ECOS® has received many distinctions for its innovations in safer green chemistry, including the U.S. EPA’s Safer Choice Partner of the Year award.

ECOS® not only makes its plant-powered products using 100% renewable energy but has also reduced its waste by over 95% by working closely with its suppliers and recycling and reusing materials.
