The positive course of early vacation reservations from the Belgian tourist market, as well as the increased interest of thousands of Belgian nationals in all Greek destinations, was reflected at the 62nd International Tourist Exhibition “Salon des Vacances,” which was recently held in Brussels.
The Greek National Tourist Organization (GNTO), which participated in the exhibition, said in an announcement that the significant increase in flights to Greece by the Dutch low-cost airline Transavia is boosting optimism for a correction of the market after the shocking 2019 collapse of the Thomas Cook company.
The Dutch carrier is adding three new direct flights from Brussels to Corfu, Thessaloniki and Heraklion beginning on April 2 of this year.
A total of 350 exhibitors from 800 different destinations, as well as 162 media representatives, took part in this year’s exhibition in Brussels, which is considered a barometer for this specific market.
Additionally, approximately 93,000 members of the public visited the Salon des Vacances during the days of the tourist exhibition’s operation.
