The General Secretariat of Greece’s Civil Protection announced that it has informed all relevant state services, as well as the regions and municipalities of the country, that they must be vigilant in the next several days due to the impending severe storm.
Local authorities’ readiness is seen as crucial in immediately responding to the effects of severe weather events, especially after Tuesday’s special weather report warning issued by Greece’s National Meteorological Service (EMY).

The Civil Protection Agency warns all Greek citizens to be particularly careful during this new storm, ensuring that self-protection measures are taken against the risks arising from the outbreak of severe weather, which is expected from Tuesday night until Friday.
The weather is expected to worsen rapidly beginning late on Tuesday.
Snowfall is expected beginning in the early hours of Wednesday in the mountains and foothills of northern Greece and in the mountainous areas of Thessaly and Central Greece.
The snow will gradually spread to all the higher-altitude areas of Central Greece as well as low-lying areas of northern Greece.
Snow will continue to fall in the same areas on Thursday, even stretching into the plains of Thessaly. Snowfall may extend to the low-altitude regions of the eastern mainland and Euboea on Thursday afternoon, where it may be persistent and quite heavy.
Very strong winds will blow on Wednesday as well, initially from a west-southwesterly direction, gradually becoming north-northwesterly and reaching up to 8 on the Beaufort scale, climbing to 9 Beaufort in the Ionian Sea.
The Ionian islands, the region of Epirus and western Greece, the Peloponnese, the northern and eastern Aegean islands and the Dodecanese, as well as the Cyclades archipelago and Crete, are all expected to see intense rainfall and even hailstorms on Wednesday and Thursday.
Persistent frost is expected in all of mainland Greece, mostly in the morning and in the evening hours on Thursday.
Citizens are advised to call 112, the European Emergency number, in case of an emergency due to the upcoming storm.
