Meteorologists Warn Western Greece to Be Affected By Extensive Rainfall and Storms

The islands of the Ionian Sea, as well as most parts of the western mainland in Greece, are expected to receive large amounts of water since extensive rainfall and storms will affect these areas on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
According to the latest weather forecasts issued by the Greek National Meteorological Service ”EMY” and the ”Meteo” Service of the National Observatory of Athens, the rain currently falling in western parts of the country will continue during Saturday, affecting the areas of Epirus and the North Ionian Sea.
These phenomena are expected to intensify, bringing to these areas strong thunderstorms as well.
On Sunday, heavy rainfall and storms will also affect the western parts of the region of Sterea Ellada, western Peloponnese, Western Crete and areas in Macedonia and Thrace.
Particularly strong rainfall will be spotted across the west of the country.
The rain will most likely continue on Monday as well.
Westerly and southerly winds will prevail in the Ionian and the Aegean seas, reaching level nine on the Beauford scale.
Authorities warn people who will travel on Sunday to Western and Northern parts of the country to be cautious due to the adverse weather.
On the upside, despite the adverse weather conditions, temperatures will remain relatively mild across the country, due to the prevailing southerly winds.
