Antonis Diamantaris, Greece’s Deputy Foreign Minister responsible for the Greek diaspora, resigned on Thursday morning.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis accepted his resignation following the outcry caused by the revelation that Diamantaris had lied about his studies in his Curriculum Vitae.
The minister had claimed that he had earned a postgraduate degree from Columbia University. However, the University confirmed that he had only enrolled without having graduated so far.
At first, Diamantaris apologized for the inaccuracy in his bio, but following a wave of criticism, the deputy minister eventually resigned his position.
