Greece is being hit hard by the storm dubbed ”Victoria,” causing severe flooding and even landslides in many parts of the country.
The Ionian islands and Crete were particularly badly hit by the violent weather.
The highest precipitation levels recorded by the meteo.gr weather stations network up until 8:30 AM on Wednesday were in Alikianos and Akrotiri (in the region of Chania, Crete) with 64 and 63 mm (2.5 inches) respectively. In Spili, Rethymno) 52 mm of rain fell, and the city of Chania as well as other areas of Crete saw 46 mm (1.8 inches) of rain.

Several villages suffered infrastructure damage as a result of the storms on the island of Kefalonia. Footage from the village of Aghia Efthimia shows roads flooded by water and debris, while a landslide has damaged the main road, leaving stones and boulders in its wake.

Strong winds of up to 9 on the Beaufort scale have already affected the Ionian Sea, while heavy rainfall is moving from west to east all over the country.
Locally severe hailstorms are expected in the Aegean islands as well, particularly in the Cyclades archipelago and Crete.
Attica is also expected to experience heavy rain on Wednesday, and authorities are warning the public about the possibility of localized flooding.
Heavy rain hit the Greek capital overnight, turning some Athens streets into small rivers before the waters could drain away.
