Tourism in Greece Expected to Break New Records in 2020

Greek Tourism Minister Harry Theoharis speaking at a press conference in London

Tourism Minister Harry Theoharis declared on Monday that after several years of increases in its number of visitors, Greece is expected to break even more records for tourism in 2020.
Speaking to the media during the World Travel Market (WTM) 2019 Expo in London on Monday, Theoharis stated that this year’s tourism is closing with strong numbers and the Ministry is looking toward the 2020 season with great optimism.
“With hard work and public-private partnerships, tourism in 2020 will break even more records in both quality and quantity,” the Minister said in his remarks.
Theoharis said that arrival numbers this year are showing a three percent increase over the number of tourists visiting the country in 2018.
“The quality, the sustainability and the authenticity of the Greek tourism product will form the basis of our new strategy,” the Minister underscored.
Minister Theoharis also referred to the broader political and social conditions which tend to lead to increases in Greek tourism.
“As long as there is stability in our region, in the Southeastern Mediterranean, in North Africa and in the surrounding area, tourist flows in the region will increase and all will win, he explained.
“Our country has a very strong product and has nothing to fear,” the Minister concluded.
