New Athens Metro Line Given the Go-Ahead

The Council of State, Greece’s highest administrative court, on Tuesday gave the go-ahead for Line 4 of the Athens metro, which will start in the Alsos Veikou district and run to Goudi.
There are two bidders for the project who have made it to the final round. One is the consortium of Aktor, Ansaldo, Hitachi, and Rail Italy, and the other is a group comprised of the companies Avax, Ghella and Alstom.
The project involves a subway line of 12.8 kilometers (8 miles) having 15 underground stops.
The line will begin from Alsos Veikou in Galatsi, and go through Kypseli, the courts area, then Exarchia, Evangelismos, Panepistimioupoli, and Ilissia, before ending up at Goudi.
