Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg have joined up to produce a series set in WWII titled “Masters of the Air”, which will air exclusively on Apple’s new streaming service.

The series is the third part of a highly successful trilogy which includes “Band of Brothers” and “The Pacific”. The two shows picked up over 40 Emmy nominations after they aired, so fans and critics alike are eagerly anticipating the third installment.

“Masters of the Air” follows the brave, death-defying missions of the U.S. Eighth Air Force, whose pilots regularly flew missions over Nazi Germany to bring the war into the German heartland.

Filmmakers embedded themselves with American bomber pilots at the time in order to get footage of their courageous, but often deadly missions. The footage was resurrected in a documentary, and now, “Masters of the Air” will bring these brave mens’ stories back to life.

Apple TV Plus will launch on November 1, 2019. Many highly anticipated series, ranging from dramas to lighthearted comedies, will appear on the service. In addition to “Masters of the Air”, check out Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, and Steve Carrell in the newsroom comedy “The Morning Show”.
