Thousands Join Race for Breast Cancer Cure in Athens

Thousands of Athenians participated in the 11th annual “Greece Race for the Cure,” a walking and running event which benefits the fight against breast cancer. The race was held in the Greek capital on Sunday morning.
The race was part of a series of worldwide events held to honor those who have lost their lives due to the disease and to highlight the urgency of finding a cure.
The annual event in Greece, which is organized by the Panhellenic Association of Women with Breast Cancer, called “Alma Zoe,” is held on the last Sunday in September.

People of all ages took part in the race on Sunday, running or walking through the sunny streets of Athens.

The race’s proceeds will be forwarded to the Panhellenic Breast Cancer Association, in order to help raise public awareness and to promote prevention and early diagnosis of the disease. They will also be used to support those who are currently living with breast cancer.
