Yet another tragedy involving and migrants took place in the Mediterranean Sea on Friday morning, this time off the coast of the islets of Oinousses in Greece.
Five children and two adults were drowned in the Aegean Sea when the plastic boat they were on, carrying nineteen people, capsized north of the islets of Oinousses.
The bodies of the dead were transferred by a Greek Coast Guard boat to the port of Chios.
There are reports suggesting that the people on board were Turkish citizens, something which has not been confirmed by the Greek authorities so far.
A large rescue operation was launched by the Greek Coast Guard and FRONTEX, the European Border and Coast Guard agency, when a vessel passing by spotted the desperate people calling out for help.
The tragedy took place north of Oinousses, the Greek islets just east of Chios and west of the Turkish coast.

The Greek Coast Guard and FRONTEX vessels, along with the Greek military and FRONTEX helicopters, rushed to the scene to save the people, who were attempting to cross from the Turkish coast to the Greek islands just several miles away.
Thus far, eleven members of the rescued group have been transported to the General Hospital of Chios.
