A family tragedy took place on the Greek island of Skiathos, in the Northern Sporades, in the early hours of Wednesday.
A British couple who own a house on Skiathos and spend most of their time in Greece, returned home at approximately 3 o’clock in the morning, after having spent the night out.
When the couple arrived outside their house, the 58-year old woman exited their car to open the gate which leads to the garden of their property.
However, the woman passed out at that point, most likely due to the large quantities of alcohol she had drunk earlier.
According to what Greek media are reporting, the husband of the woman, who was at the wheel of the car, did not see his wife lying on the ground.
When he drove through the gate to enter into their property, he realized the car had just passed over the body of his unconscious wife.
A physician rushed to the scene of the unspeakable tragedy, but was unable to save the woman.
The doctor declared the woman dead at the scene, and her body was then transferred to the Health Center on the island.
The Skiathos Police Department is now investigating the case to determine the exact circumstances under which the incident took place.
