Greece Win At FIBA World Cup Too Little, Too Late

Greece won a thrilling game 84-77 against the Czech Republic on Monday, but it was still eliminated from joining the final eight teams of the World Cup, as it needed a win of 12 points or more to progress.
Greece was up by a qualification-giving margin, 53 – 65, with 6:47 minutes remaining following a basket by its top performer Nick Calathes.
The Czech squad responded, and with the score at 57 – 67, Giannis Antetokounmpo was called with a questionable offensive foul and was forced to sit on the bench for the remainder of the match.
Nick Calathes scored 24 points and had 6 assists and 5 rebounds for Greece while Giannis Antetokounmpo finished with 12 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.
The Czech Republic may advance to the World Cup quarterfinals for the first time in history, if Team USA wins in their game against Brazil.
