“The Voice” judge Kelly Clarkson hosted a television program called “Clear the Shelters” on NBC on August 23 in order to encourage pet adoption nationwide.
The 30-minute program focuses on both NBC and Telemundo’s animal adoption drives.
With a big heart to match her beautiful voice, Clarkson contributed her warm, exuberant presence to the special in order to encourage viewers to consider pet adoption in general.
This is the fifth year the network has done a “Clear the Shelters” special. Clarkson recapped the stunning success of the month-long program, in which 140,000 animals found homes.
The singer made it clear that she is a huge animal lover, saying, “I can tell you from personal experience that when you open your heart and home to a rescue animal, your pet will thank you every single day of its life. It’s the most beautiful and purest form of unconditional love you can ever have.”
Clarkson herself had previously adopted a stunning amount of animals in her Texas home, which she nicknamed her “rescue ranch.” In total, the singer has adopted 30 dogs and 14 horses, as well as an assemblage of ponies and pigs.
