A joint Search and Rescue Exercise dubbed “CYFRA-04/19” was conducted on Monday off the coast of Cyprus, according to a press release which was issued by the Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC) on Tuesday.  SAR Units and Personnel of the Republic of Cyprus and France participated in the exercise.
The French Destroyer “FS Auvergne,” and the air assets based on the ship, together with 460 Squadron of the Air Command, took part in the large exercise, along with the Cypriot Navy’s high-speed patrol boats “Ammochostos” and “Onisillos” of the Port and Marine Police of the Republic of Cyprus.
The aeronautical exercise was held under the operational control and coordination of the Joint Rescue Coordination Center of Larnaca, in close cooperation with the French Navy.
This search and rescue exercise comes only one month after the very successful joint military exercise by Cyprus and France called “PASSEX CYP/FRA-05/2019,” which was also held in the same region.
