Fourth Turkish Research Ship Heads for Eastern Mediterranean

The fourth Turkish oil and gas research ship, the “Oruc Reis,” is on its way to the eastern Mediterranean, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said via Twitter on Monday.
His tweet was in response to Turkish Republican People’s Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu, who questioned why Turkey is not in the eastern Mediterranean drilling for hydrocarbons.
The Turkish minister wrote in an ironic tweet: “Mr. Kilicdaroglu obviously thinks that Fatih, Yavuz and Barbaros, which protect our rights and the TRNC’s rights, are Greek ships. And our fourth ship, Oruc Reis, is on its way. We are ready to report on this matter to Mr. President-in-Office, who is insufficiently informed about our national case in Cyprus.”
Earlier, Kilicdaroglu had said in a speech that there should be cooperation with the Syrian administration and that relations with the nation of Egypt should be normalized once again.
“The eastern Mediterranean is rich in oil and gas. America is there, Greece is there, the South Cypriot administration is there, Egypt is there, Qatar is there, everyone is there, only one state is not there, Turkey. Why not?” Kilicdaroglu asked.
“They say they have a successful foreign policy. Why aren’t we there? Because we quarreled with Egypt. Why did we quarrel? We had no problem with Egypt. Why did we quarrel? I want my brothers in the AKP to think about it,” the CHP leader added.
