Cooler Temperatures Expected as Heatwave Set to Subside During Midweek

The scorching temperatures that have been recorded in Greece since last Friday are set to moderate beginning on Thursday, according to the latest forecast issued on Monday by the National Observatory of Athens’ Meteo department.
Most areas across Greece have experienced temperatures reaching or exceeding 39-40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) since last Friday.
Similar temperatures are expected in western, central and northern parts of the mainland until Wednesday, while winds will still be strong, raising the danger of wildfires breaking out in many regions across the country.
Temperatures are expected to drop gradually from Thursday onward, with an increased likelihood of rainshowers and storms, which should occur mainly in the northern parts of the mainland.
