Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis went to the town of Mati, Attica, on Tuesday morning to attend a memorial service held for the 102 victims of the national tragedy which hit the area exactly one year ago.
The service took place in the Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God (Koimiseos tis Theotokou) in the town of Mati.
Hundreds of people attended the service, most of them relatives and friends of the people who tragically lost their lives in the conflagration which swept through the town on July 23, 2018.
Mitsotakis announced a series of additional relief measures for the people of Mati, both during his address to the people of the town and as part of his earlier speech in Parliament.
Among the measures announced was that all medical treatment to all those who were injured by the fire would be completely free of charge. In addition, there will be a five-year freezing of property taxes (ENFIA) for properties in Mati as well as a series of technical measures to rebuild and to protect the town from future disasters.
