Greek Firefighters Bring Wildfire at Rafina, East of Athens Under Control


Firefighters say that they have brought under control a wildfire that broke out early afternoon on Tuesday near the resort town of Rafina, east of Athens.
No injuries or damage to property has been reported.
Earlier, dozens of firefighters, joined by fire-fighting helicopters and planes, were seen battling the flames.


The Fire Service said that there was no danger of the blaze reaching populated areas.


Traffic police have been diverting traffic at specific spots along Marathonos Avenue.
The fire broke out on the first anniversary of the deadly fires that swept through East Attica, killing 102 before they could be extinguished.
