Impressive Sailing/Cruise Ship ''Club Med 2'' Arrives in Volos, Greece

The impressive sailing boat/cruise ship “Club Med 2” arrived in the port of Volos in Greece’s region of Magnesia on Monday, carrying hundreds of French-speaking tourists, primarily from France, Belgium and Switzerland.
With 303 passengers and 219 crew members on board, the French-flagged ship had set sail from the island of Skiathos, where it had spent the previous day, with passengers shuttled ashore to its famous Koukounaries Beach and other sights via speedboats.
While in Volos, passengers will have the chance to visit the beautiful coastal city and its ancient archaeological sites as well as the nearby traditional villages on the slopes of Mount Pelion, the mythological home of the Centaurs.
The “Club Med 2” is a five-masted computer-controlled stay-sail schooner, owned and operated by the Club Med company. It is now operated as a cruise ship.
It combines the power of seven computer-operated sails with more traditional diesel-electric power, having four diesel generators which power two electric motors.
The imposing vessel, which can carry up to 386 passengers, sails across the Mediterranean each summer.
