Ariel Winter, the 21-year old actress who has spent over a decade playing the super smart Alex Dunphy on “Modern Family”, opened up to “The Hollywood Reporter” about life after the show.
Though she is now focused on wrapping up the eleventh and final season of the ABC sitcom, this is the first time in her adult life she doesn’t have a set plan for the next year.
It’s clear from her interview with the entertainment magazine that she wants to focus on different kinds of roles, especially more grown-up parts.
She stated, “It will be hard to leave [‘Modern Family’], but I am excited to do new things. I’m excited to play new roles and to do things that challenge me a little more.”
The half-Greek young Hollywood star has had to deal with a lot of criticism and hate in her teenage years, to the point where she once quit Twitter over bullying. This is why she says she likes to shy away from fame. In her own words, “I’m not really a fame person. That wasn’t why — that’s not why I do what I do. I like to act. I like to work.”
Winter has attracted a lot of attention for her clothing and body, and has become a vocal opponent of body shaming, making it clear that women have the right to wear whatever they want at whatever weight they are.
Though the future may now remain unclear, the young starlet has big plans, including possibly studying for a psychology degree after she was forced to stop attending UCLA due to her acting workload.
