92 year old Thanasis Paleologos, a pensioner from Napi, Lesbos who says he never had the opportunity to get education, donated the amount of $600,000 to the University of the Aegean. The elderly’s donationis to go towards improving the institution’s library in Mytilene.
In effort to support the education he did not himself have, “Mr. Thanasis” was an immigrant in America for many years where he made his fortune.
Having returned to Mytilene, where he currently lives, he supported the public library by financing the study for the repair of the building.
The $600,000 donation was submitted a few days ago to the University. The proposal will be discussed in the next few days, in order to be accepted by the Senate of the University.
The term for the donation, is for the amount, which may be increased, to be made available for the needs of the University’s library.
