Greek Ferries to Remain Docked on Wednesday Due to Industrial Action

The Hellenic Seamens’ Federation (PNO) has declared a 24-hour strike on July 3 amid a labor dispute with passenger shipping operators.
Greek islands will be left with no connection to the mainland at the height of the tourist season. Also, ferry services between Greece and Italy will be affected.
PNO decided to proceed with strike action last week, after a proposal by shipping operators regarding the sector’s new collective labor agreement did not satisfy their demands.
The federation objected to a proposal concerning salaries as well as to rules governing the size and composition of crews.
