''No Matter What Tsipras Says, We Have Rights'' Turkey's Erdogan Says on Med Drilling

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke to his party’s Parliamentary group on Tuesday and made several remarks regarding his country’s drilling activities in the region of Eastern Mediterranean.
”We have four vessels in the region and we have taken our measures,” Erdogan stated, adding that ”no matter what the Prime Minister of Greece says, we have rights in the region.”
”The Greek Prime Minister says some things and he says them on his own,” Erdogan noted in yet another provocative statement which could heighten tensions between Ankara and Athens even further.
The Turkish President was referring to Alexis Tsipras’ recent remarks that Turkey should not even think of drilling on Greece’s continental shelf.
”We have a plan to prevent it; it simply won’t happen” Tsipras told journalists in an interview he gave on Monday to the Greek Public Broadcasting Corporation’s third channel, ERT3.
”Until we achieve a just distribution of natural resources in Eastern Mediterranean, we will continue with our determined steps in the region,” Erdogan declared to the MPs of his party.
”No effort to search or drill that ignores Turkey’s and the ‘Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’ rights will be allowed by us,” Erdogan concluded.
”The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus” is what Turkey calls the illegally-occupied part of the Republic of Cyprus, which is not recognized by any nation on the globe other than Turkey.
Regarding the issue of the purchase of the Russian-made S-400 missile system, Erdogan said that Ankara will go ahead with its plans, disregarding Washington’s threats of sanctions if Turkey actually obtains the Russian missiles.
