Nikos Metaxas, the National Guard Officer who was accused of murdering five women and two girls in Cyprus, was convicted on Monday afternoon in a Nicosia court and sentenced to serve seven life sentences for his crimes.
As Cyprus’ Public Broadcasting Corporation (RIK) reports, Metaxas did express remorse for the heinous crimes he committed.
Metaxas reportedly apologized to the souls of the victims he killed, their relatives and the entirety of Cypriot society.
Metaxas had earlier admitted to abducting his victims following extremely detailed plans before brutally killing them.
His unfortunate victims were Mary Rose Tiburcio, who was 38 years of age; Arian Palanas, 28; Kachta Anu, 30; and two mothers, 36-year-old Livia Bunea and 29-year-old Maricar Valdez Agricola, along with their daughters, Elena Bunea, who was eight years of age, and Sierra Agricola, who was six.
