Greece Surrenders to Italy 0-3 in Euro 2020 Qualifiers

Greece’s national soccer team had a bad night on Saturday in Athens, giving Italy an easy win 0-3 in the fourth game of the Euro 2020 qualifiers.

The Italians scored all three goals within 10 minutes in the first half, trashing all Greece’s hopes for a comeback.

Things started going bad for Greece in the 23rd minute of the game when Andrea Boletti attacked from the left and cut the ball to Nicolo Barella who scored easily once he received the pass.
Seven minutes later, striker Lorenzo Insigne passed Andreas Samaris and curved the ball into Vasilios Barkas’ net.
Three minutes later, a corner kick brought the whole Italian squad inside Greece’s box. Center-half Leonardo Bonucci found himself unchallenged from close range and headed the ball in for 3-0.
Greece fared better in the second half, but that was only because the Azzurri slowed down, having practically secured the match.
Ironically for Greece, goalkeeper Vassilios Barkas was the man who stood out, with some great saves. Winger Georgios Masouras also had a good chance to score in the second half.
Saturday’s game was the third for the Italians who managed a three-in-three  (9 total points). Greece, on the other hand, fell behind Finland in third place with four points in three games.
Greece has a chance to revive its hopes on Tuesday when they face weaker Armenia in Athens.
