Passenger traffic in Greek airports grew 8.4 percent in the first four months of the year, totaling 10,709,690 passengers, from the 9,880,700 passengers seen in the corresponding period last year. The figures were part of a report released by the Civil Aviation Authority on Monday.
The number of flights to Greek airports totaled 102,036 in the period from January-April, of which 54,980 were domestic and 47,056 international; this is an increase of 8.2 percent over the same period last year.
Passenger traffic totaled 3,920,936 in April of 2019, an increase of 7.8 percent from April 2018, while the actual number of flights grew 8.0 percent, totaling 35,266 arrivals and departures.
The number of international passengers also grew 14.8 percent in the month of April, totaling 1,463,552 individuals. The airports in Athens, Thessaloniki, Heraκlion, Rhodes and Chania were the busiest airports in the country, while airports in Aktion, Kephalonia and Kos recorded the largest increase percentage-wise in passenger traffic.
