Greek Police Bust Migrant Trafficking Gang in Thessaloniki

Greek police in Thessaloniki arrested three suspects for the crime of human trafficking after it discovered sixteen migrants held in a secret basement on Wednesday.
Officers removed a wardrobe and discovered a hatch in the floor which led to the basement where the migrants, who had illegally entered Greece recently, were being held against their will.
According to the police, the migrants were being detained in the basement by the three suspects, who had demanded a ransom for their release.
The three suspects, including a Moldavian, an Indian and a Pakistani national, appeared before a prosecutor on Thursday. They face separate charges of forming a criminal gang, abduction, illegal transfer and trafficking of migrants in the country, as well as charges of jeopardizing human lives.
