Delphi Forum Considers How the Diaspora Can Assist Greece

Prominent Greeks of the diaspora gathered at the Fourth Annual Delphi Economic Forum  on Friday to discuss how they can be of further assistance to their homeland.
Participants to the panel, called “Mobilizing the Diaspora to Promote the Homeland,” included Jimmy Athanasopoulos of Envolve Entrepreneurship, the Libra Group, and Peter J. Poulos from The Hellenic Initiative.
Mike Manatos, from Manatos & Manatos, Dr. Nicholas Pappas, Chairman of the Bank of Sydney and president of The Hellenic Initiative Australia, and Leonidas Raptakis, Senator from the Rhode Island State Senate, also took part in the proceedings.
Chaired by Emanuel Rouvelas, from K&L Gates, the panelists explained how their respective organizations are mobilizing second- and third-generation Greeks to help Greece. They also stressed that the Greek government should do more to help their efforts.
Among the panel’s audience members was the US Ambassador to Greece, Geoffrey Pyatt.
The Forum opened on Thursday in the Greek city of Delphi. The major international conference aims to identify the most important global economic trends and assess their implications for the wider region of the Eastern Mediterranean.
Representatives from twenty-four countries, 500 speakers from around the world, 2,500 delegates and over 200 accredited members of the press from Greece and abroad are attending the forum. The major international conference has become a focal point for policy makers in the region for the last four years.
