A cabinet meeting was held on Wednesday morning in Athens, following the mini-reshuffling of the government which took place a few days ago.
The Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras welcomed the new members of his government, telling them that it’s time to join forces together in this critical time.
Tsipras said that his government‘s effort, which began four years ago, to drive Greece out of the throes of financial crisis has been already implemented. He noted that this achievement was not only the work of people who come from the left-wing side of politics, but those from Social Democrats, the center and the center-right as well.
Referring to the current economic situation of the country, compared to when his government took office in 2015, Tsipras said that “Greece today is a European example of success.” He added that “all our partners refer (to Greece) with flattering comments at all European fora.”
The prime minister mentioned a series of measures his SYRIZA government has already taken to strengthen the country’s economy and support citizens in need. He stated that the remaining policies, such as the loan-subsidy and rent-subsidy programs for low-income people, are nearly ready to be implemented.
These new programs will offer financial support to thousands of people who still find themselves in financial need, according to Tsipras.
