Greek Rescuers Recover Bodies from Flooded Cretan River

Rescue teams on Monday recovered four bodies which were believed to belong to a family  which had gone missing since Saturday night when their car was swept away by a flooded river in Crete.
The bodies were discovered inside the vehicle at the Geropotamos River, about 35 hours into the search.
Among the dead are 21-year-old and 30-year-old sisters, their 58-year-old mother and the husband of the elder sister.

The car was found approximately 100 meters from the spot where search-and-rescue workers had been digging, but the wreck was half concealed by mud, water and reeds.
The rescue team used straps to lift the vehicle out of the muddy riverbed.
