According to data published on Friday by Fraport, the company that manages most of the Greek airports, the arrivals of tourists in December recorded an increase of 23.6 percent, with the total number of people visiting the country in 2018 reaching the figure of 33 million.
According to the official data, 418,552 people arrived in December 2018, compared to 338,515 in December last year.
The international airport of Thessaloniki, ”Makedonia” received 130,277 people in December of 2018, a figure increased by 43 percent compared to the same month of 2017.
Accordingly, the international airport of Athens, ”El. Venizelos” recorded an increase of 20.6 percent, with 279,785 people coming to the Greek capital in December.
Similar figures of increase were spotted in Crete’s Heraklion, with the state-run AMNA news agency reporting that 2018 was the best year for the Greek tourism, both in numbers of visitors and in revenue.
