At least three people were killed following a huge explosion on Saturday evening at a restaurant in the city of Kalamata, on the Peloponnesian peninsula.
The two employees and the owner’s wife were already unconscious when transported to a hospital, the fire service stated. They later died of their wounds.
The explosion occurred around 21:15, at a time when the restaurant “Dionysus” was packed with customers.
Reports say that the explosion was caused by a gas cylinder in the kitchen area.
The explosion caused a fire which was put out by firefighters. None of the restaurant’s customers were injured.
