Tsipras, Zaev to be Honored in Germany


The leaders of Greece and FYROM will receive the prestigious “Ewald von Kleist” Award in February for their efforts to resolve bilateral differences.
A report by Deutsche Welle DW) on Thursday says that Alexis Tsipras and Zoran Zaev will receive this year’s award at the 55th Munich Security Conference on February 16, as announced by conference Chairman Wolfgang Ischinger.
A representative of the Munich Security Conference, talking to DW on Thursday, confirmed that both leaders had accepted the invitation to attend the conference in Munich.
The conference inaugurated the award in 2009 and counts Henry Kissinger, Javier Solana, Helmut Schmidt, Valery Giscard d’Estaing and John McCain among its past recipients.
The von Kliest award honors leading figures in security policy who have made an outstanding contribution to international peace and conflict management. The joint presentation to Tsipras and Zaev acknowledges the importance of the Prespa Agreement for security and stability in the Balkans and in Europe as a whole.
