US Embassy Offers Ten Scholarships for Greeks to Study in the US

The U.S. Embassy in Athens announced on Wednesday the launch of a new program which will give the chance to ten Greek students to travel to the United States. The students will receive a one-year scholarship to study at an American high school.
The program is dubbed ”Future Leaders Exchange” (FLEX). It is only for high-school age Greek students who wish to travel to the US and stay with a host family while attending an American high school.
The students will be in the US for the 2019 – 2020 school year. They will be selected through a merit-based competition, which will cost their families nothing. Students must meet the following criteria:
– They must be studying at the Third Gymnasium or First Lyceum year and were born from January 1, 2002 to July 15, 2004.
– They have a Grade Point Average equal to, or better than, “good” (13.1/20).
– They have previously studied English and they can demonstrate the ability to speak and write in English at the time of registration.
– They are Greek citizens who can acquire an international passport.
The online application for the program will be available here, by February 19, 2019.
The program is funded exclusively by the U.S. Department of State and is organized by the non-profit organization American Councils for International Education.
