Greek Space Agency Receives Proposals for NASA Lunar Exploration Mission

The Greek Space Agency (ELDO) announced on Tuesday that fourteen different proposals  have been received as part of its participation in NASA‘s “Invitation to Exploration Campaign” for a new mission to explore the moon.
Fourteen Greek universities, agencies and companies submitted their proposals in order to take part in the NASA program.
Those responding to the invitation included Greek state agencies, academic institutions, private companies and independent researchers from across the country.
All the proposals were characterized as ”high-level” and will form the backbone of Greek participation in NASA’s prospective mission.
The proposals concern the construction of photo-taking algorithms, the creation of conditions for cultivating food in space, and possible mining applications on the surface of the moon.
Other proposed studies include the design and use of spectroscopic instruments and calibrators for the safety of astronauts and prospective settlers on the moon, as well as general operating mechanisms for deep-space communications.
In addition, Greek entities have proposed studies on the specifications for human habitation systems and chemical analysis systems for the lunar soil and environment, which were considered extremely interesting and were presented by ELDO to NASA.
Among those submitting their proposals were Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the Technical University of Crete and the National Observatory of Athens.
