Suspect Arrested for Illegal Possession of Antiquities in Southern Greece

Greek police arrested a 46-year-old man on Tuesday in the southern Peloponnese for illegal possession of dozens of antiquities which he intended to sell.
The suspect, arrested in Gythio, Lakonia had three pieces of luggage in his car which were filled with antiquities including gold jewelry, statuettes and even part of an ancient marble column with an inscription.

Police authorities state that the items seized were all from an unspecified Hellenistic-era cemetery.
The suspect was charged with a breach of provisions of the law on the protection of Greek antiquities and cultural heritage.
