Greek Parliament Will Vote on Prespa by End of Next Week


Parliamentary speaker Nikos Voutsis announced on Friday that Greek lawmakers will be voting on ratifying the name deal with the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia by the end of next week.
Coming out of a meeting of the ruling SYRIZA party’s political secretariat, Voutsis indicated that the process for ratifying the so-called Prespa agreement would begin over the next few days at the committee level.
The process will culminating with a debate in the plenary and the final vote will be taken by the end of next week.
“Everyone will have a say. Everyone will be given the time,” Voutsis told reporters. The meeting was the first the leftist party’s political secretariat had called since junior partner the Independent Greeks Party, ANEL, left the coalition.
