The Greek Consul in Venezuela, Angelos Charitos, was found dead in a hotel room in the capital city of Caracas on Wednesday morning, according to local media.
The body of the 55-year-old Greek diplomat was discovered at the Altamira Suites hotel. He had earlier complained of experiencing chest pains.
Based on initial information, the death of the diplomat is attributed to natural causes, but Venezuelan authorities are investigating all possibilities, and have not yet ruled out other causes, it was reported.
There has been no comment at press time from the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
