Greece is not investing in warlike rhetoric with Turkey, said Alternate Foreign Minister Giorgos Katrougalos on Friday, criticizing recent airspace violations by Turkish warplanes in the Aegean.
Katrougalos spoke to the press after briefing party representatives on developments in the region at a meeting of the National Council for Foreign Affairs. The alternate foreign minister said that Greece will not imitate Turkey’s escalating rhetoric and provocation.
“It is [Turkey] that needs rhetorical outbursts and vacuous provocations,” Katrougalos said, attributing Ankara’s policy to a revisionist attitude towards international law.
Katrougalos also spoke on the issue of the confiscation of properties of ethnic Greeks in southern Albania, condemning the policy of the Albanian government, saying it goes against  European Law.
However, he noted, Greece continues to support Albania’s European Union membership ambitions, on the condition that the country respects the established laws of the Union.
