Skai TV Bombing Investigation Continues; US Condemns Attack

Greece’s counter-terrorism police unit is continuing their investigation into the Monday morning bombing which caused extensive damage to the building housing Skai Television and Kathimerini newspaper. The attack occurred at 2:30 AM local time (0030 GMT) and there were no injuries.
Footage from security cameras around the perimeter of the building in Neo Faliro was used to attempt to identify the perpetrators’ car. Although there is footage of passing cars, a blind spot in front of the building has not allowed authorities to pinpoint the exact car used by the suspects.
Authorities believe that a car which was torched in Petralona shortly before the explosion may have been used by the bombers as they fled the scene. The vehicle was stolen on November 18 and had forged license plates.
U.S. State Department condemns attack against Skai
The United States condemned Monday’s bombing of the main offices and studios of Skai Television and Kathimerini newspaper.
“We are closely following events in Athens following an explosion outside the offices of Skai TV and Kathimerini,” a U.S. spokesperson told Hellas Journal.
“We are relieved that no one was injured in the blast, and expect that those responsible will be brought to justice swiftly. The United States condemns any attempt to use violence to intimidate the free press into silence,” the State Department official said.
