The results of the most popular 2018 Google searches for the nation of Greece were no surprise once again this year, as Greek citizens looked up reality shows, celebrities from reality shows, television series, soccer games and food recipes.
The fastest growing Google searches in Greece for 2018 were the following, in descending order:
The Power of Love, a reality show with scantily-clad women; The Eurovision song contest; the 2018 World Cup in Soccer; Black Friday, (shopping day); Survivor 2, a reality game; the PAOK-AEK soccer game; the Game of Love, another reality show with women wearing even fewer clothes than in Power of Love; Anne, a Turkish soap opera; Tattoo, a Greek soap opera; and lastly, the Olympiacos – Panathinaikos soccer game.
The Most-Googled People in Greece this past year, also in descending order, were:
Iliana Papageorgiou, a model and judge on fashion reality show Greece’s Next Top Model; Stefanos Tsitsipas, the young tennis star; Meghan Markle, the new Duchess of Sussex; Olga Farmaki, a player in Survivor 2; Mikis Theodorakis, composer; Tryphon Samaras, hairdresser; Xenia Rec, a singer in pop group Rec and Survivor 2 player; actress Demi Lovato; Elena Christopoulou, a judge in Greece’s Next Top Model; and lastly, Eleni Foureira, a singer.
Top Food recipes Greek people Googled in 2018 include:
Fava (mashed split peas); Burgers; Guacamole; Pancakes; Taramas (fish roe); Rizogalo; Giouvarelakia (boiled meat and rice balls); Peas; Pizza; and lastly, Mosaic (a Turkish cake made from chocolate and cookies).
