Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos‘ film The Favourite has been nominated for five awards at this year’s Golden Globe competition.

The Favourite was nominated on Wednesday in the category of Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, with Olivia Colman getting a nod for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.

Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz were both nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture. It is very unusual for one film to capture the award for Best Actress along with two Best Supporting Actresses awards.

In addition, Deborah Davis and Tony McNamara received nods for Best Screenplay in a Motion Picture.

Yorgos Lanthimos is a Greek film and theater director. He has also worked as a producer and screenwriter. His latest film The Favourite is a historical period comedy-drama written by Deborah Davis and Tony McNamara.
