Greece Says ''Turkey's Actions Proof of its Weakness''

Greek Alternate Foreign Minister George Katrougalos said on Thursday that Turkey’s recent “erratic” actions are a direct response to the improvement in Greece’s international position. He added that Turkey’s current political situation has been exacerbated by the EU’s response to Turkish tactics in the Aegean Sea, leading to its resulting isolation.
Responding to a question by the main opposition center-right party New Democracy (ND), Shadow Foreign Minister George Koumoutsakos spoke first about the increased Turkish provocation in the Aegean Sea and the Eastern Mediterranean. George Katrougalos added that Turkey’s reactions are further proof of its weakness.
Katrougalos noted that Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras’ visit to Istanbul will take place when circumstances will make it worthwhile. ”That is,” he said, “if the conditions exist to further promote Greek-Turkish relations.” He added that the possibility of any incident happening between Greece and Turkey in the Aegean Sea must be avoided.
The new statement from the Greek alternate foreign minister came only two days after the ministry’s strong reaction to Erdogan’s remarks about Greece and Cyprus.
