The Cypriot Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry announced an application from joint venture Total E&P Cyprus B.V. and Eni Cyprus Limited for a license to carry out oil and gas exploration in Cyprus’ exclusive economic zone.
In a press release, the Cypriot Ministry says that the timeframe for submitting applications actually expired on November 26. Only one application was received, from the joint venture Total E&P Cyprus B.V. / Eni Cyprus Limited. The plan is for exploration of only the block 7 area of Cyprus’ exclusive economic zone, or EEZ.

The press release states that over the next few days the application will be examined by the Consultative Committee, which will prepare a report to be sent to Cypriot Energy Minister George Lakkotrypis.
The Minister will then present the proposal to the Council of Ministers, and a decision will be made subsequently.
