Greek State Delays Winery Deal for a Debt of 3 Cents

A Dutch businessman railed against against the Greek State this week, furious at the unnecessary delaying of his business deal for a debt of 3 cents he owed to the tax office, according to a report on news website.
Laurens Hartman is the owner of Domaine Karanyka, a winery in Florina, northern Greece. He wanted to sell a piece of land he owns there so that he can expand his winery business. However, the transaction — which requires tax clearance — was blocked because Hartman was found to owe 3 cents in property tax.
The winery owner was forced to delay the selling of his property until he settled his debt and received a new tax clearance.
Furious, Hartman posted on Facebook the form he received from the tax office, and included some choice comments of his own on the Greek tax office and Parliament.

“Welcome to Greece. I cannot exchange a piece of land because of my debts to the Greek state. Serious??? We pay tens of thousands of Euros in taxes every year, and they obstruct me from doing business because of 3 freaking cents. Why don’t you all f@#@ yourselves at the tax office and in Parliament.”
