Greek Organization for the Disabled to Hold First Annual Fundraiser in New York

ELEPAP-Rehabilitation for The Disabled will hold its first annual reception in New York on December 3 to raise funds for disabled children across Greece.

The event will take place at the Kyma Restaurant in the Flatiron, New York City, and is being organized for the benefit of ELEPAP in the United States, a nonprofit dedicated to helping disabled children in Greece, which was established in 2014.

ELEPAP-Rehabilitation for The Disabled is a rehabilitation centre with six branches throughout Greece. It was the first non-profit organization in Greece, established in 1937, formed to support the development of children with physical and developmental difficulties and also to provide assistance to their families.

With the slogan “Empowering our Brave Children”, the organization offers a series of integrated intervention programs for infants, pre-school and school-age children and coordinates with the Public Special Schools in its work.

ELEPAP places emphasis on early diagnosis of childhood disability and developmental difficulties as well as early intervention for children in risk groups. Interdisciplinary assessment identifies the needs of children that require special followup and support. Early intervention is vital because children adapt and learn easiest in early childhood, and this ensures the best developmental outcome.

The interdisciplinary ELEPAP experts employ a holistic approach to the entire person, including psychomotor development, functionality, self-care, speech and communication, education, and socialization. They see the child’s development as a multidimensional and dynamic process, and emphasize the bond between the family and the scientific team.

Individual tickets for the reception are $250 and there are several sponsor packages available.
