Greek Submarine Surprises Locals and Tourists in Symi (video)

An unexpected surprise awaited locals and tourists in the picturesque island of Symi in Greece’s Dodecanese on Sunday.
A large military submarine emerged from the waters in the old port of the island, providing bystanders with a rare opportunity to see and admire one of the best submarines that the Hellenic Navy possesses.

The submarine remained in the port for nearly an hour before it dived again in the Mediterranean waters heading to an unknown destination.

The type 214 submarines, also known as ”Papanikolis” in Greece, are diesel-electric submarines developed by the German Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft (HDW).
