Where the Cyclone Is Expected to Hit in Greece

The National Observatory of Athens issued a warning of the possibility of another tropical-like cyclone, also known as Mediterranean hurricane or “Medicane” forming late on Thursday in the Ionian Sea, in the area between Italy and Greece, based on current data.
According to Meteo, the cyclone is expected to move eastwards, bringing heavy rains and high winds to a large section of Greece’s Peloponnese and Crete early on Saturday, before moving on to Attica, Evia and the Cycladic Islands, reaching the East Aegean Islands, possibly even the Dodecanese Islands, by early Sunday.
Expected route of Medicane

Saturday noon the medicane’s eye is expected to be over the island of Kythira, south of Peloponnese.

By afternoon it will reach off southeastern Lakonia

Later on Saturday it will move towards the Aegean island of Milos
In the early hours of Sunday is expected to reach the central Aegean islands of Paros and Naxos

Forecasts say it will weaken when it reaches the eastern Aegean during Sunday

Due to the unpredictability of the ongoing Medicane “Xenophon”, Meteo said it will be issuing updated information continuously.
”Xenophon”, which forced boats to remain docked the last three days, continues to lash the Aegean Sea with gale-force winds and low seasonal temperatures.
By Thursday night and Friday morning, the eastern part of mainland Greece, including Attica, the Peloponnese, the Cycladic Islands and Crete should expect Xenophon to bring rain and storms, the weather service said.
