Greek police arrested five men suspected of carrying out an attack against an MP from the ruling SYRIZA party in Kalamata, Peloponnese, on Sunday.
Petros Konstantineas was confronted and attacked by several people after attending a soccer match with his son, resulting in him being hospitalized with non-threatening injuries.
The state news agency AMNA said Konstantineas recognized his attackers as far-right supporters.
All major parties condemned the attack.
Konstantineas, a 40-year-old baker and retired soccer referee, was elected to Parliament in 2015.
